FollowSee All by Andrew Liszewski is a senior reporter who’s been covering and reviewing the latest gadgets and tech since 2006, but has loved all things electronic since he was a kid. After initially revealing its unique design at NAB 2026 last month with few technical details, Insta360 has announced and launched its new wireless Mic Pro system featuring a couple of industry firsts.
While the Mic Pro transmitters that can directly connect to devices over Bluetooth are available individually for $99. 99, a more elaborate kit with two microphone transmitters, one wireless receiver, and a charging case is $329. The Mic Pro transmitters are noticeably larger than other wireless microphones including Insta360’s own Mic Air, but the size accommodates its two key upgrades.
Industry Implications
Each transmitter features a six-color, 1. 22-inch, round E Ink screen that can be used to display logos, names, or as a way to identify each one when multiple are used simultaneously. The screens still display images when the transmitters are powered off and battery life is estimated to be up to 10 hours which can be extended to 30 using the charging case.
You can purchase the Mic Pro transmitters individually and connect them directly to devices over Bluetooth. Or buy a pair of them as part of a kit that includes a wireless receiver and charging case. When mounted atop a camera they can function like a shotgun mic to focus their capture on talent in front of the camera. Cardioid mode has a tighter pickup pattern that’s useful for recording voiceovers, while Figure-8 mode captures audio from in front and behind simultaneously when recording conversations.
This advance offers important signals about the future of the sector, and the tech world is watching closely.
