The social media star - real name Olajide William Olatunji or JJ to friends and family - announced he was leaving the YouTube collective over the weekend. In a YouTube video, which has nearly three million views, KSI confirmed "nothing bad" had taken place between him and the group and the decision to leave was completely his own.

After fans expressed their shock and speculation it could be a prank, the Britain's Got Talent judge has confirmed the news is "real" and addressed the Sidemen directly to say how "sad" he was about leaving. "I know you're all grieving in your own way because of my decision, but you knew it was coming for a while," he said in a statement shared to Instagram. "And I know some of you are angry, some of you don't want to accept it, some of you might even hate me, and some of you are just upset.

"He also shared a host of photos of him and the Sidemen from over the years in the post, adding that looking back at the memories had made him emotional. "I had the time of my life. It's been such an awesome crazy journey," he said.
