An 18-year-old from Riverside, Cardiff, has been charged with wounding with intent and possessing a knife or sharp pointed article in a public place following the incident on 25 May.
He is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Saturday. South Wales Police said the victim had been receiving critical care at the University Hospital of Wales.
